בשנת עסרין ותלת שנין ליואש בר אחזיה מלך שבטא דבית יהודה מלך יהואחז בר יהוא על ישראל בשמרון שבע עסרי שנין:
shnyn esry shbe bshmrwn yshral el yhwa br yhwakhz mlk yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk akhzyh br lywash shnyn wthlth esryn bshnth
In the twenty-third year of Joash the son of Ahaziah, king of Judah, Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria for seventeen years.

ועבד דביש קדם יי ואזל בתר חובי ירבעם בר נבט דחייב ית ישראל לא סטא מנהון:
mnhwn sTa la yshral yth dkhyyb nbT br yrbem khwby bthr wazl yy qdm dbysh webd
He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin. He didn’t depart from it.

ותקיף רוגזא דיי בישראל ומסרינון ביד חזאל מלכא דארם וביד בר הדר בר חזאל כל יומיא:
ywmya kl khzal br hdr br wbyd darm mlka khzal byd wmsrynwn byshral dyy rwgza wthqyp
Yahweh’s anger burned against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, continually.

וצלי יהואחז קדם יי וקביל צלותיה יי ארי גלי קדמוהי דוחקא דישראל ארי דחק יתהון מלכא דארם:
darm mlka ythhwn dkhq ary dyshral dwkhqa qdmwhy gly ary yy tslwthyh wqbyl yy qdm yhwakhz wtsly
Jehoahaz begged Yahweh, and Yahweh listened to him; for he saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Syria oppressed them.

ויהב יי לישראל פריק ונפקו מתחות ית אנש ארם ויתיבו בני ישראל בקרויהון כמאתמלי ומדקדמוהי:
wmdqdmwhy kmathmly bqrwyhwn yshral bny wythybw arm ansh yth mthkhwth wnpqw pryq lyshral yy wyhb
(Yahweh gave Israel a savior, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians; and the children of Israel lived in their tents as before.

ברם לא סטו מחובי ירבעם דחייב ית ישראל בהון אזלו ואף אשירתא קמת בשמרון:
bshmrwn qmth ashyrtha wap azlw bhwn yshral yth dkhyyb yrbem mkhwby sTw la brm
Nevertheless they didn’t depart from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, with which he made Israel to sin, but walked in them; and the Asherah also remained in Samaria.)

ארי לא אשאר ליהואחז עם אלהין חמשין פרשין ועסר רתיכין ועסרא אלפין גבר רגלין ארי אבדינון מלכא דארם ושוינון כעפרא לדיש:
ldysh kepra wshwynwn darm mlka abdynwn ary rglyn gbr alpyn wesra rthykyn wesr prshyn khmshyn alhyn em lyhwakhz ashar la ary
For he didn’t leave to Jehoahaz of the people any more than fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria destroyed them and made them like the dust in threshing.

ושאר פתגמי יהואחז וכל דעבד וגבורתיה הלא אינון כתיבין על ספר פתגמי יומיא למלכי ישראל:
yshral lmlky ywmya pthgmy spr el kthybyn aynwn hla wgbwrthyh debd wkl yhwakhz pthgmy wshar
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

ושכיב יהואחז עם אבהתוהי וקברוהי בשמרון ומלך יואש בריה תחותוהי:
thkhwthwhy bryh ywash wmlk bshmrwn wqbrwhy abhthwhy em yhwakhz wshkyb
Jehoahaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria; and Joash his son reigned in his place.

בשנת תלתין ושבע שנין ליואש מלך שבטא דבית יהודה מלך יהואש בר יהואחז על ישראל בשמרון שית עסרי שנין:
shnyn esry shyth bshmrwn yshral el yhwakhz br yhwash mlk yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk lywash shnyn wshbe thlthyn bshnth
In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz began to reign over Israel in Samaria for sixteen years.

ועבד דביש קדם יי לא סטא מכל חובי ירבעם בר נבט דחיב ית ישראל בהון אזל:
azl bhwn yshral yth dkhyb nbT br yrbem khwby mkl sTa la yy qdm dbysh webd
He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight. He didn’t depart from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin; but he walked in them.

ושאר פתגמי יואש וכל דעבד וגבורתיה דאגיח עם אמציה מלך שבטא דבית יהודה הלא אינון כתיבין על ספר פתגמי יומא למלכי ישראל:
yshral lmlky ywma pthgmy spr el kthybyn aynwn hla yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk amtsyh em dagykh wgbwrthyh debd wkl ywash pthgmy wshar
Now the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might with which he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

ושכיב יואש עם אבהתוהי וירבעם יתיב על כורסיה ואתקבר יואש בשמרון עם מלכי ישראל:
yshral mlky em bshmrwn ywash wathqbr kwrsyh el ythyb wyrbem abhthwhy em ywash wshkyb
Joash slept with his fathers; and Jeroboam sat on his throne. Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.

ואלישע מרע ית מרעיה דימות ביה ונחת לותיה יואש מלכא דישראל ובכא על אפוהי ואמר רבי רבי דטב ליה לישראל בצלותיה מרתיכין ומפרשין:
wmprshyn mrthykyn btslwthyh lyshral lyh dTb rby rby wamr apwhy el wbka dyshral mlka ywash lwthyh wnkhth byh dymwth mreyh yth mre walyshe
Now Elisha became sick with the illness of which he died; and Joash the king of Israel came down to him, and wept over him, and said, “My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!”

ואמר ליה אלישע סב קשתא וגרריא ונסיב לותיה קשתא וגרריא:
wgrrya qshtha lwthyh wnsyb wgrrya qshtha sb alyshe lyh wamr
Elisha said to him, “Take bow and arrows;” and he took bow and arrows for himself.
16
ואמר למלכא דישראל אחית ידך על קשתא ואחית ידיה ושוי אלישע ידוהי על ידי מלכא:
mlka ydy el ydwhy alyshe wshwy ydyh wakhyth qshtha el ydk akhyth dyshral lmlka wamr
He said to the king of Israel, “Put your hand on the bow;” and he put his hand on it. Elisha laid his hands on the king’s hands.

ואמר פתח כון למדינחא ופתח ואמר אלישע שדי ושדא ואמר הדין גירא יתעביד לנא פורקנא מן קדם יי והדין גירא יתעביד לנא נצחנא באנש ארם ותמחי ית אנש ארם באפיק עד דישתיצון:
dyshthytswn ed bapyq arm ansh yth wthmkhy arm bansh ntskhna lna ythebyd gyra whdyn yy qdm mn pwrqna lna ythebyd gyra hdyn wamr wshda shdy alyshe wamr wpthkh lmdynkha kwn pthkh wamr
He said, “Open the window eastward;” and he opened it. Then Elisha said, “Shoot!” and he shot. He said, “Yahweh’s arrow of victory, even the arrow of victory over Syria; for you will strike the Syrians in Aphek until you have consumed them.”

ואמר סב גרריא ונסיב ואמר למלכא דישראל מחי לארעא ומחא תלת זמנין ופסק:
wpsq zmnyn thlth wmkha larea mkhy dyshral lmlka wamr wnsyb grrya sb wamr
He said, “Take the arrows;” and he took them. He said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground;” and he struck three times, and stopped.

ורגיז עלוהי נביא דיי ואמר הוה חזי לך לממחי חמש או שית זמנין בכן פון מחיתא ית אנש ארם עד שיציותא וכען תלת זמנין תמחי ית אנש ארם:
arm ansh yth thmkhy zmnyn thlth wken shytsywtha ed arm ansh yth mkhytha pwn bkn zmnyn shyth aw khmsh lmmkhy lk khzy hwh wamr dyy nbya elwhy wrgyz
The man of God was angry with him, and said, “You should have struck five or six times. Then you would have struck Syria until you had consumed it, but now you will strike Syria just three times.”

ומית אלישע וקברוהי ומשרית מואב עלת בארעא במיעל שתא:
shtha bmyel barea elth mwab wmshryth wqbrwhy alyshe wmyth
Elisha died, and they buried him. Now the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.
21
והוה עד דאינון קברין גברא והא חזו ית משריתא ורמו ית גברא בקברא דאלישע ואזל וקריב גברא בגרמי דאלישע וחיא וקם על רגלוהי:
rglwhy el wqm wkhya dalyshe bgrmy gbra wqryb wazl dalyshe bqbra gbra yth wrmw mshrytha yth khzw wha gbra qbryn daynwn ed whwh
As they were burying a man, behold, they saw a band of raiders; and they threw the man into Elisha’s tomb. As soon as the man touched Elisha’s bones, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
22
וחזאל מלכא דארם דחק ית ישראל כל יומי יהואחז:
yhwakhz ywmy kl yshral yth dkhq darm mlka wkhzal
Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.
23
וחס יי עליהון ורחם עליהון ואתפני במימריה לאוטבא להון בדיל קימיה דעם אברהם יצחק ויעקב ולא אבה לחבלותהון ולא אגלינון מארע בית שכינתיה עד כען:
ken ed shkynthyh byth mare aglynwn wla lkhblwthhwn abh wla wyeqb ytskhq abrhm dem qymyh bdyl lhwn lawTba bmymryh wathpny elyhwn wrkhm elyhwn yy wkhs
But Yahweh was gracious to them, and had compassion on them, and favored them because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them and he didn’t cast them from his presence as yet.

ומית חזאל מלכא דארם ומלך בר הדד בריה תחותוהי:
thkhwthwhy bryh hdd br wmlk darm mlka khzal wmyth
Hazael king of Syria died; and Benhadad his son reigned in his place.
25
ותב יהואש בר יהואחז ונסיב ית קירויא מיד בר הדד בר חזאל די נסיב מן יהואחז אבוהי בקרבא תלת זמנין מחהי יואש ואתיב ית קירוי ישראל:
yshral qyrwy yth wathyb ywash mkhhy zmnyn thlth bqrba abwhy yhwakhz mn nsyb dy khzal br hdd br myd qyrwya yth wnsyb yhwakhz br yhwash wthb
Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael the cities which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Joash struck him three times, and recovered the cities of Israel.
